07/21/2021 Tara M. Raghavan was recently installed as President-Elect of the South Asian Bar Association (SABA) of North America. SABA is the umbrella organization for 29 local chapters across the United States and Canada and represents the rapidly growing South Asian legal community across North America. After Ms. Raghavan finishes out her term, which runs from June 2021-July 2022, she will serve as President of SABA thereafter.
In these roles, Ms. Raghavan will help guide SABA in its mission and vision of providing professional development opportunities for its members, promoting diversity and inclusion efforts, combatting efforts to limit and marginalize South Asian and other communities, and providing legal information and access to pro bono services for those communities. In particular, Ms. Raghavan will build upon SABA’s virtual programming and professional development initiatives implemented during the pandemic as well as improving upon SABA’s signature events, which include an annual Lobby Day, an Annual Conference, and a Leadership Retreat. Ms. Raghavan also intends on extending SABA’s advocacy efforts, improving the financial health of SABA through year-round fundraising, developing meaningful relationships with affinity bar associations, and increasing the influence of SABA throughout the legal industry.
Ms. Raghavan previously served on SABA North America’s Executive Committee as VP-Annual Conference, Secretary and VP-Public Relations from 2007-2010. Ms. Raghavan is also a past president of SABA Chicago (2008), and remains on its Advisory Council.
